TIKILIMBO SURF HOSTEL

Tikis are originally from the southern pacific islands and are the representation of men as gods. In former times they were carved from wood or stone for the purposes of worship, protection and even awe. Limbo is a mysterious and unknown place, which may be viewed as paradisical. A cult to the mythology of tikis originated in the united states in the fifties starting a movement which continues to the present day.

In Tikilimbo we pay tribute to polynesian pop art culture and the mythology which forms a part of the cultural tiki movement.

Tikilimbo first opened its doors in 2004, when two travellers found their place in the world. It was the first hotel-restaurant in montañita to pay homage to the tiki culture.

Nowadays Tikilimbo is one of the most atmospheric places in montañita. A hotel, restaurant, chillout area, surf shop and surf school.........all wrapped up in the mysterious cloud transmitted by the tikis, which in their turn connect us to limbo.

KUNDALINI HOSTEL

Kundalini is a hostel that was born from a family home built in 1987. It was one of the first 5 houses built facing the sea in Montañita. Its owner much visited this beach in search of waves and together with his friends bought these lots facing the sea for where to sleep on weekends. Then it became a family summer house, until they decided to share this space with the travelers and become a House originally.

The houses on the coast of Ecuador have certain characteristics and use construction materials of the area. Kundalini this formed by a joint construction between cement, decorative stones and bamboo. Our goal to develop this nice hostel, was build according to the materials characteristic of the area, to avoid creating any environmental or visual impact to the community in any way.
